Executive Vice President
A Professional Geologist with over 28 years of oil and natural gas exploration and development experience, Mr. Costigan has a diverse international background. Mr. Costigan was co-founder and Vice President of Exploration of Tempest Energy Corp from 2000 to 2005, playing a key role in the company’s growth and in its plan of arrangement with Daylight Energy Trust, which led to the founding of Open Range Energy Corp. Previously he spent many years at Gulf Canada Resources Ltd., where he was involved in successful exploration in Alberta, British Columbia, the Mackenzie Delta, the Beaufort Sea, and Canada’s offshore East Coast, as well as playing a key role in Gulf’s entry into Indonesia and North Africa. He headed Gulf’s Horizontal Drilling Group in 1992, which was responsible for adding over 4,700 bbls per day of net oil production from nine prolific horizontal wells, including Meekwap 9-19, which set the Canadian horizontal production record in 1993. Later Mr. Costigan served as Exploration Manager with Tarragon Oil and Gas Ltd, where he played a key role in the Company’s rapid, highly profitable growth in south-central Alberta. After Tarragon was taken over by Marathon Oil, directed Marathon’s extensive Canadian exploration program. Since the founding of Open Range, Mr. Costigan has been Executive Vice-President. Mr. Costigan is a member of APEGGA, the Canadian Society of Petroleum Geologists (CSPG) and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists (AAPG).
