JAMES F. BLAND
Vice President Exploration

Mr. Bland is a Professional Geologist with over 24 years of exploration and development experience in Western Canada and overseas. He is part of Open Range’s founding management team. Previously he spent many years at Burlington Resources Canada Ltd. (and its predecessor company Canadian Hunter Exploration Ltd.), carrying out successful exploration programs targeting Cretaceous natural gas in the Deep Basin of Alberta and British Columbia, adding approximately 100 bcf of proved gas reserves. Prior to that, at Gulf Canada Resources Ltd. Mr. Bland held exploration and development responsibilities in Central Alberta, making several discoveries in the Mississippian and Devonian carbonate and Cretaceous clastic sections. He also gained experience working the U.K. section of the North Sea as an exploration geologist in Gulf’s international exploration group. Mr. Bland holds a B.Sc. (Honours) degree in Applied Earth Science, and has been a member of APEGGA since 1985.
